Individual Philanthropy

Our important work is made possible by funding provided by our major donors.

Funding provided by our major donors is essential to making our important work possible, enabling us to allocate resources where needed most while ensuring our organization is nimble to help individuals who are blind and have vision loss define their own future with our exceptional guide dogs at their side. Our dogs bring powerful, meaningful change into each student’s life, and we work to support them in living joyful, independent, fulfilling lives beyond our campus borders.

We continue to develop innovative programs that reimagine what can be done with a guide dog; design new equipment that improves the connection between dog and handler; and pioneer the use of data to improve the guide dog experience. Our efforts in the 2022 Fiscal Year included:

  • We continue to advocate for people with disabilities, on individual, local, and national levels, with emphasis on inclusivity and diversity. We all have an important role in educating the public on access rights.
  • We implemented a five-year strategic plan to chart a sustainable path for long-term growth, while maintaining the exceptional quality of our guide dogs and training experience.
  • We established a new Client Experience Team to provide the highest care and individualized service to our students as they navigate each phase of their journey in seeking, receiving, working with, and retiring a Guiding Eyes guide dog.
  • To increase our ability to customize training, we shortened the on-campus class length with more focused instructor training and provide additional one-on-one instruction, when needed, for each of our students.
