National Puppy Day is all about celebrating the joy, love, and boundless potential of puppies. At Guiding Eyes for the Blind, we know that every guide dog starts their journey as a playful, curious pup with the potential to change a life. Today, we’re shining a spotlight on Jelly Bean and Jolie.
These adorable black Labrador Retriever sisters from the J324 litter (Patrice x Yang) are full of personality, intelligence, and heart. Jolie and Jelly Bean were recently matched with the perfect Puppy Raisers to help them shine—now, their adventure toward becoming guide dogs truly begins!
Get to know them below!
Jelly Bean is a puppy who lives life enthusiastically. She’s eager, intelligent, and always ready to take on new challenges—especially if there’s food involved! Her love for food makes training especially rewarding, as she stays focused and eager to learn when tasty treats are on the line.
She’s naturally enthusiastic and playful, sometimes so excited that she needs a little help slowing down and focusing on each step. With the right guidance, she’s learning to take her time, stay thoughtful in her movements, and build confidence as she tackles new environments.
Jelly Bean is incredibly resilient and adaptable, showing great focus even when other puppies are around. She’s not easily startled by noises and stays engaged with her handler, making her a wonderful candidate for future guide dog training. She would thrive with a Puppy Raiser who is patient, positive, and excited to help her grow into the best version of herself.
Jolie is a puppy with a lively spirit and a curious mind. She’s expressive, playful, and enjoys taking in the world around her at her own pace. She’s naturally inquisitive and enjoys working through new experiences with the help of food and toys, which provide her with a sense of comfort and confidence.
Like her sister, Jolie is learning how to navigate new situations with growing confidence. She appreciates having time to process things and thrives with a calm, steady approach. She’s great at communicating how she feels, which makes it easy to support her as she explores and learns.
Jolie loves affection and engagement but benefits from gentle encouragement when experiencing something new. With a patient and positive Puppy Raiser, she’ll continue to build trust and develop into a self-assured, adaptable guide dog in training.
These two sisters have found their Puppy Raisers, but there are still eager guide dog puppies waiting for a volunteer like you! This National Puppy Day, consider opening your heart and home to a future guide dog in training.
Guiding Eyes puppies are filled with potential, curiosity, and a whole lot of love—but they need a Puppy Raiser to help them along the way. As a volunteer Puppy Raiser, you’ll play a crucial role in their journey, teaching them basic skills, socializing them in different environments, and giving them the foundation they need to succeed.
And now, for the first time ever, you can raise a future guide dog from anywhere in the country! With our new Remote Puppy Raising program, volunteers outside our 40 established regions can raise a Guiding Eyes puppy from home—with full support, training, and guidance from our expert team. You’ll attend classes and one-on-one sessions virtually via Zoom, receive training materials, and have access to a dedicated support network every step of the way.
